Fitness.
My primary discipline is that of sports science, specialising in sport specific and general fitness.
I take a "whole" approach to fitness, view it on an individual basis and work on the specific needs of the client. My fitness background also covers nutrition, injuries and special populations.

WHAT IS FITNESS?
Fitness is not about being able to run ten miles. Fitness is specific to your individual needs. Basically speaking you cannot compare the fitness of a rugby player to that of a ballet dancer. You cannot even compare the fitness of a prop forward to that of a fullback. Their requirements within their sports are different, therefore their fitness levels will differ. This is where we look at the different components of fitness.
Fitness is comprised of many individual components, how you rate on each one should reflect the needs of your sport/activity. For example a dancer or gymnast should measure highly on a flexibility test.A winger (rugby)should produce a high rating on the speed component.
It is these components by which we should focus improving our fitness.
What are all these components?
There is no straight forward answer. Sports scientists differ on what they regard as being the components of physical fitness. There is some consensus however. This is what I teach:
FLEXIBILITY
POWER
SPEED STRENGTH
AGILITY
SPATIAL AWARENESS
BALANCE
AEROBIC (With oxygen)
ANAEROBIC (Without oxygen)
Anatomy Info
Investigate the inner body
